Frequently asked questions
Where is Orchard Gift and Thrift, and when is it open?
Orchard Gift and Thrift is at 3439 N Lecanto Hwy in Beverly Hills, Florida. We’re open Monday from 10 am to 2 pm, Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 5 pm, and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm. You can call the store at 352-270-8024.
Can I donate my gently used items to the thrift store?
Yes, and thank you. We welcome gently used items: clothing and accessories for men, women and children, furniture, home decor, books and media, and toys and games. For larger items, we request you take photos and call us at 352-270-8024 before bringing them in.
Where does the money from the thrift store go?
Every purchase at Orchard Gift and Thrift directly benefits the mission of Courageous and Free. That support gives young women safe housing, trauma-informed therapy, medical care, and essential resources such as identification, clothing and personal necessities.
What is human trafficking?
Human trafficking is the abuse and selling of children, women, and men for their bodies and labor for commercial purposes. It’s modern day slavery, and it happens in every community: cities, suburbs and rural areas, here in the U.S. as well as overseas.
What do most people get wrong about human trafficking?
Most victims are not kidnapped. They are controlled through coercion, manipulation and psychological abuse, often by people they know and trust. Many don’t realize they are being trafficked; they believe they’re in a bad job or an unhealthy relationship. And traffickers recruit online, through social media, messaging apps and fake job ads.
Is Courageous and Free a Christian organization?
Yes. Courageous and Free is a Christ-centered ministry restoring hope and rebuilding lives through worship, teaching, advocacy, mentorship and residential homes. We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Who is the Home for?
Our Home is a Christ-centered independent living home for young women ages 18 and older who are coming from at-risk environments. It is a bridge from isolation to belonging, with support while they pursue education, employment and a vision for their future. We believe every woman is created in the image of God, deeply loved, and worthy of the support she needs.
How can I volunteer?
There’s a place for almost any gift of time. Volunteers help with events, fundraising and office work, in the thrift store, with social media outreach, and with mentoring, skill-building and transportation for the young women we serve. Prayer partners matter too. To start, fill out the Volunteer Interest Form on our Volunteer page, where you’ll also find the background check form.
Are you hiring?
